sketch comedy writing 2
-
All KML classes are structured to mirror our original process for creating live, fast, smart, fearless sketch comedy and will prepare you to think creatively, in a unique environment.
This class is for KML Writing students who want to continue developing their comedic voice and take it to the next level. You'll further your writing skill set that you learned in Sketch Writing 1, while also getting more specific about the types and styles of sketches.
In addition, you'll participate in two workshops where KML actors will come to class and put your sketches on their feet. The unique experience of having your work go from page to stage is integral to understanding how your words are processed by skilled actors seeing your script for the first time.
As your session of Sketch Writing 2 comes to a close, KML actors will perform a stage reading showcasing your sketches in a theatre for you, your classmates, and your friends and family. In addition, students will receive a discount code for a $5 ticket to the current KML show of the month.

Prerequisite: KML's Sketch Writing 1 Class
All students and instructors are required to provide proof of vaccination and 1 booster before the start of any in-person class.
Please review KML's other class COVID protocols HERE. By signing up for this class, you are agreeing to adhere to those protocols.
Students should expect to spend 3-4 hours per week of writing outside of class.
Attendance is a big part of our collaborative environment. Please make sure that your schedule allows for in-class time and outside of class writing time.
KML cannot issue refunds for classes.
In the event of a class cancellation for any reason, course credit will be reapplied to another class of your choosing, with no time limitation.
In the event a student has to drop a class, KML can transfer course credit to another class within 6 months of the dropped class. In order for the course credit to be reapplied, you must notify KML at least 7 days prior to the first day of the class for which you originally signed up.
Transferring class credit will not be honored after the class has already started.
If a student misses two or more classes, they are automatically dropped from that session. The student is welcome to enroll in future classes, but their enrollment in the previous session will not rollover into the next session and the student will be expected to pay for the new session in full.
All students are expected to attend the final class read.
*Note that classes tend to fill up quickly, as we keep the class size manageable to be sure each student has a full experience. The deadline to sign up for a class is 72 hours before the class begins. If you wish to sign up, but the deadline has passed, contact admin@killingmylobster.com to be placed on a waitlist.
*If it is deemed unsafe to hold classes in-person, class may resume over Zoom.
