2024 In Person KML Class COVID Precautions and Protocols
Updated 3/4/2024
The following are the official procedures in place as KML classes resume in person instruction in 2024. These steps may be updated at any time, and any changes should be considered effective immediately. Failure to adhere to the below guidelines could result in being dismissed from class for the day, or for the remainder of the session.
All students and staff must provide proof of vaccination AND the 1st booster
before entering KML HQ for class.
All students and staff, by signing up for the class, agree to notify staff should they
be exposed to COVID at any point during the 7 weeks of class.
The number of students in any class shall not exceed 10.
The windows must remain open for the duration of the class.
To minimize risk for students and instructors who have repeated exposure to each other, writing classes will require masks, and students in our acting classes must wear a mask when not rehearsing a scene, eating, or drinking.
All students and staff must provide proof of vaccination AND 1 booster before entering KML HQ for class.

Both bathrooms will have plenty of hand soap and paper towels
What Happens If…
If a student is exposed to COVID and needs to take off more than one day of class, they will be transferred to a future session at no additional cost.
Due to the new CDCguidelines regarding time in isolation, if a student tests positive for COVID, they must isolate for the CDC-required 5 days. They could potentially Zoom into class, which has proven to be useful.
If a student has already had one absence, and the isolation period requires them to miss an additional class, the student will be transferred to a later session at no additional cost.
The student may return, fully masked, after that period, but must remain diligently masked in the space until they test negative.
For an acting class, this could include remaining masked onstage during rehearsals or a showcase.
If any of the above instances necessitates it, a sketch may be re-cast or cut from a showcase, based on the discretion of the instructor.
Because of the nature of the acting class format and final showcase, if transfers cause the class to fall below 4 students, the showcase and class will be canceled and the students will be transferred to another class at no additional cost.
For the acting showcase: students will be unmasked during their final performance.
We are"highly encouraging" but no longer requiring our audiences to mask in the theatre.
If a writing instructor tests positive for COVID, they will conduct the class over Zoom. If they are too ill to teach, they will set up a class plan for a replacement instructor to step in for as many weeks as necessary. If an instructor is unavailable, the AD will step in.
